Rural Christian Schools
Christian schools, predominantly Catholic, having been serving Lebanon’s rural communities for over a century. These are the cement that holds communities in place. They are entrusted with over 5 generations of children, they employ local teachers, and they are integral to the local fabric with a deep understanding of families’ needs and aspirations.
Our team conducted an assessment of schools and selected a first cohort of 8 as trusted partners:
* Collège al Carmelia – Mejdlaya
* Collège al Carmelia– Kobayat
* Collège al Carmelia – Tripoli
* Collège de Ste Therese – Amioun
* Our Lady of the Tower school (HF Sisters) – Deir el Ahmar
* Collège du Christ-Roi des Soeurs Basiliennes Chrétiennes – Zahle
* Collège Notre Dame de l’Annonciation – Kfarchima
* Collège des Soeurs des Saints Coeurs – Byblos
We worked with the administration of each school to identify urgent needs and tailored our approach accordingly.
We found 3 main areas of need:
1- Minimal cost support to maintain services to children
2- Minimal cost living stipends for teachers to support their basic needs, enabling them to stay the course and survive this critical period
3- Certain families’ specific needs as identified through school data and direct observation and assessment
To date, we have reached over 6000 children and served over 3000 families through these partner schools as hubs of faith and hope in their local communities.
We must continue to touch their lives in the coming year and try to reach many more.
